The shooting death of a 15-year-old Mobarak Adam has been ruled a homicide by the King County Medical Examiner.
He was shot in the torso and died in the boys bathroom inside and near the entrance to the Southwest Athletic Complex at 2800 SW Thistle Street on January 23.
The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear since no witnesses have come forward. Detectives told the family that the camera at the center has not worked for more than a year.
This is the first homicide in Seattle for 2024 and is the second shooting death in this area in less than a year. Ka-Don Brown was shot nearby and his body was found on the campus of Chief Sealth International High school last April.
That crime remains under investigation.
