Information from the Center for Active Living
The Center for Active Living (formerly the Senior Center of West Seattle) has selected artist Brady Black to commission a mural on the outside of its building. Brady was selected through a competitive process by a committee that included community volunteers and members. The committee was impressed by his vast experience, collaborative approach and commitment to creating a mural that reflects the energy and vitality of The Center’s members and the West Seattle community.
Brady has created amazing murals around our region as well as in other parts of the world. In Seattle, you can see Brady’s work on the Monorail columns among other places. His works are colorful, inspiring and extend a message of equity and inclusion. We invite the community to watch our story be unveiled on our building through Brady’s work. We hope to have the mural completed by the end of the summer.
Funding for the mural project was provided by the City of Seattle’s Neighborhood Matching Grant program, as well as private community donations.
