It wasn't doing things the easy way, but it was getting them done just the same.
The if necessary game became necessary when the West Seattle age 9-11 Little League baseball all-star team was knocked off, 2-0, by Rainier District in Tuesday's provisional championship.
That forced a second game to be played Wednesday, and this time the Westsiders won, 5-2, to be crowned as the District 7 champions.
West Seattle advances to the state tournament now, opening with a 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20 game against District 5 at the Bombing Range Sports Complex in West Richland.
West Seattle began its District 7 title quest with a 10-0 win over Renton this past Friday and followed it up with a 12-2 victory over Rainier District the next day.
That set up a Sunday meeting with South Highline National in the winner's bracket final that West Seattle won, 10-0.
Rainier knocked off National, 3-0, in the loser's bracket final Monday to set up the championship action.
