White Center Music Venue Hit by Burglars, Thousands Stolen
White Center music venue, Tim's Tavern is reeling after thieves made off with thousands of dollars in a lightning-fast burglary early Monday morning.
Westside Seattle news partner Q13Fox News carried the story.
According to Tim's Tavern owner Mason Reed, surveillance footage shows masked burglars breaking through the venue's back door around 5:30 a.m., making off with a safe containing cash in just 45 seconds. The stolen money included door proceeds meant to pay performers from weekend shows.
"They're just stealing from artists and creatives that don't make a lot of money to begin with," Reed said.
The owner plans to cover both the stolen performance fees and repair costs out of pocket, with total damages estimated between $5,000-$6,000. "In the big picture, it's such a small amount of money to cause all that damage and that much risk for themselves," he noted.
This marks the second break-in at Tim's Tavern in six months, complicating insurance matters for the struggling venue. "We're already a struggling music venue, breaking even just trying to put on shows," Reed said. "It's just another blow."
The King County Sheriff's Office reports no arrests have been made, and no detailed suspect descriptions are available. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the non-emergency line at (206) 296-3311.
