This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the future of Seattle’s transportation system and to ensure transparency and accountability as SDOT builds and delivers on levy commitments. As a committee member, you’ll help keep Seattle moving by overseeing how levy funds are spent. Your role is to monitor budgets, track progress on projects, and make sure the funds are used as promised to Seattle voters. You’ll work with the Mayor’s Office, City Council, and SDOT staff to ensure transparency and accountability. Join us in being a steward of this public investment and help make a real difference in Seattle’s transportation future.
More about the Seattle Transportation Levy: The 2024 Seattle Transportation Levy (the levy) will collect $1.55 billion over 8 years to fund transportation projects and programs. With this revenue, SDOT will maintain and modernize the city’s aging infrastructure by building sidewalks, paving streets, repairing bridges, and improving connections to transit for a safe, reliable, and connected Seattle.
Please read below for more information about the Levy Oversight Committee and applying. Additional information is available on the SDOT Blog post.
We are recruiting for the appointed positions on the 19-member LOC, including the 5 Mayor-appointed positions, which can be residents of any Council District, while also working with City Councilmembers to identify potential district appointees. The committee is composed of:

- Seven Seattle residents appointed by the City Council across Council Districts
- The current Chair of the City Council’s Transportation Committee
- The City Budget Director (or designee)
- Representatives from Seattle’s Pedestrian, Bicycle, Transit, and Freight Advisory Boards
- A young member selected through the YMCA’s Get Engaged program
It is a goal in the 2024 Seattle Transportation Levy legislation to ensure that at least four LOC members represent census tracts identified as Highest and Second Highest Equity Priority under the City of Seattle Racial and Social Equity Index. This includes the below Seattle neighborhoods. If you live in or around these areas, please apply!
