Special Olympics Washington is urgently seeking community members and corporate groups to fill hundreds of volunteer roles for their upcoming spring season events1. These crucial volunteer opportunities support athletes participating in various competitions across the state.
According to a recent announcement from Special Olympics Washington, their largest events of the regular season are facing a significant need for volunteer support1. Both group and individual volunteers are encouraged to sign up.

Several upcoming events are in particular need of volunteers:
• April NW/SW Regional 19 Swimming Competitions: This event will be held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
• Swimming Competition: Taking place on April 26th at Chief Sealth International High School in West Seattle.
• NW Athletics Competition (Track & Field): Scheduled for April 27th at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
• SW Athletics & Soccer Competition (Track & Field & Soccer): Also on April 27th at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
No prior sports experience is necessary to volunteer2. The minimum age to volunteer is 11 years old. However, youth aged 11-13 must volunteer alongside an adult, while teenagers aged 14-17 can volunteer in select roles.
For individuals and small groups, the registration process involves two simple steps:
1. Create an account: Visit the volunteer portal at https://portals.specialolympics.org to create a profile.
2. Register for a shift: Once your account is created, navigate to your volunteer profile, click "Sort by Date," locate the desired event, date, and role, and complete the registration process2.... Individuals aged 14 and older are encouraged to register independently through this link.
Community and corporate groups with 10 or more individuals are especially welcome1. These groups are asked to email volunteer@sowa.org for more detailed information and specific registration instructions.
Adults who wish to volunteer alongside youth aged 11-13, or adults interested in volunteering as a small group, should have one adult create a profile in the portal. Subsequently, they should email Susan at sgreenwood@sowa.org with the names of the other individuals in their group, along with their preferred day, role, and shift.
