The resident of 1900 SW Campus Drive reported a barbeque grill, valued at $130, stolen from the deck.
A Federal Way officer was driving through an apartment complex at 31224 20th Ave. South when he noticed a rope and noose hanging from a light pole. The officer cut down the rope before anyone was hurt. The maintenance supervisor said that he had seen juveniles swinging from the noose earlier.
Officers responded to an illegal dumping behind the Baskin Robbins at 31434 Pacific Highway South. Someone had allegedly dumped furniture and a five-gallon canister behind the building. The business owner claimed that the tenants of a nearby apartment complex are responsible, although all of them denied any involvement.
Police investigated a case of malicious mischief at French Lake Park on 1st Ave. South. Officers responded to an alarm from a meeting room in the park, where a rock had shattered one of the windows. No attempt at entry had been made. Officers will add more patrols to the area.
At approximately 1:10 a.m., Federal Way police followed up on a report of slashed tires at 1900 SW Campus Drive. The victim stated that he heard someone slashing his tires and saw a male and a female near his vehicle. He could not identify them, but said that he suspected one of the suspects was his son's ex-girlfriend. The victim's two driver's side tires were slashed, resulting in $150 in damage to his 1988 Jeep.
Police arrested and booked a man at 29317 19th Place South who had whipped and scratched his daughter, leaving marks on the girl's chest. He was charged with fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, and was booked in King County Jail.
An officer responded to a fire and rescue call at Steel Lake Park at 6 p.m. A four-year-old male was submerged underwater for a few minutes and was pulled from the water by his older sister. By the time the officer arrived, the child was conscious and breathing normally. He was transported to St. Francis Hospital for care.
Thieves broke into a 1991 Ford and lifted a CD Player, valued at $200, from 31910 Gateway Center Blvd. South. The owner of the car also reported damage to her driver's side door lock.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at 2700 South 298th St between a couple. The woman said that she may be pregnant. When officers arrived, the party said that they were only yelling with a little shoving, and neither complained of pain. The police gave them both a domestic violence pamphlet. No other witnesses were available to indicate any history of domestic violence.
A Federal Way city employee called to report a break-in to two vehicles parked at Dumas Bay Center, where he resides. Thieves entered a 1995 Mercedes and a 2002 Dodge Durango, damaging both door locks and stealing various items, including a Sony speaker, an mp3 player and the victim's softball gear. Officers said that it appears the thieves attempted to steal the Mercedes because they inflicted $400 of damage to the dashboard and ignition.
A mother contacted police to report that her eight-year-old daughter claimed to have been kicked in the stomach by a volunteer at Bethel Christian Center Day Care. The mother observed no injuries. CPS investigated the case and determined that the claims were unfounded.
Police found a man, who was wanted for violating a court order, hiding in a bedroom closet at 35412 25th Ave. SW. The victim allowed the police to enter the residence, where they found the man and arrested him without incident. He was booked in the Fife Jail.
Federal Way police responded to a domestic dispute involving two females at 32120 45th Place SW, #D1. The two women told officers that they were having an argument over the fact that they were both moving to Burien.
At the request of CPS, police contacted the mother of a six-year-old boy who was admitted to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital for internal abdominal bruising. The mother did not know the origin of the bruises, nor did the child. The mother believes that her son might have sustained the injuries after another child hit him at daycare on June 8. The child is doing well, and police have closed the case.
CPS referred a case to Federal Way police after woman allegedly attempted suicide because her nine-year-old daughter disclosed to her that she is being sexually molested by the woman's boyfriend. The daughter said that the boyfriend touched her over her clothing. Later, the girl said that she did not want her mother to date him anymore.
Vandals sliced open the convertible top of a 1989 Red Saab at 952 SW Campus Drive. The victim estimated the damage at $700.
