Coast Guard Auxiliary

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Des Moines Flotilla No. 32 regularly offers Boating Safety and Seamanship courses at Mount Rainier High School.
They cover the full range of boating safety subjects, including federal requirements, basic piloting, marlin spike, seamanship and boat handling.
The instruction is free, although there is a nominal fee for the student text and work books.
Mount Rainier is located at 22450 19th Ave. So. in Des Moines.

Power Squadron

The United States Power Squadrons have a toll free number for anyone interested in locating a boating course near them at 1-888-FOR-USPS or 1-888-367-8777. They also offer an internet home page at http://www.usps.org.
The squadron has been teaching safe boating courses since 1914. They are taught by experienced volunteer instructors who are commended by state and national agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard. Many insurance agencies recognize this course for personal and boat discounts.

Walleye Club

The Western Washington Walleye Club meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. behind and below the Green Acres Learning Center located at 1826 So. 240th St. in Des Moines just past Highline Community College. There is a large lighted parking area.
Guests are welcome. Each meeting includes lots of fish stories, some refreshments and a very special program. A group outing is also usually held every other month, including potlucks.
If you are interested in fishing for walleye and other warm water species, some good friendships and fun, the club would enjoy seeing you at its meetings.

The Bass Club meets the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at The Reel Thing store located at 30819 Pacific Highway So. in Federal Way.

Blackhawk Mountain Baseball of Highline continues to offer coaching clinics, baseball camps, one-on-one instruction, team practices and parent/child camps.
Former professional minor league players Steve Goucher and Troy Rusk serve as instructors.
