According to DeVry spokesman Jason Roth, "It's actually similar to the paintball competitions, but without the pain. In fact it's very technical. A 1977 graduate from DeVry University was involved in the development of laser tag technology.
There are laser tag venues and competitions across the country and they are very popular with the kids, Roth said. He describes the game this way:
Laser tag combines the classic games of tag and hide & seek with a high-tech twist. Donning the most sophisticated laser tag equipment available, the game is played in a large indoor arena, with obstacles and hiding places.
Some are indoors and feature specialty lighting, swirling fog and heart-pounding music. Individually or on teams, players use their laser guns to score as many points as possible by tagging the sensors on their opponents' equipment.
Participants are invited to take a campus tour and learn about DeVry University's new bachelor's degree program in game and simulation programming. A game expert will provide information about exciting careers in the video game industry.
