Thieves burglarize home
1. Representatives of Quadrant Homes, a construction firm, contacted Federal Way police to report that someone entered a vacant home on the 32800 block of 41st Way South and stole kitchen cabinets. The cabinets-a brown Merillat model-have a value of $3,000. In their attempt to swipe the cabinets, the burglars caused more than $1,000 in damage to the counter tops. Police could not locate any evidence at the scene.
Spray paint artists vandalize trailer
2. The owner of a trailer parked on the 3200 block of Southwest 341st Street contacted the Federal Way police to report that vandals spray painted several slogans on the side of his property. The vandals used black spray paint to the phrases "Armeggedon" (sic.) and "F**k the Free World." Officers could locate no evidence at the scene, and have closed the case pending new leads.
Fistfight leads to gunfire
3. Federal Way officers responded to a call shortly after midnight at the Caf/ Seattle at 31140 Pacific Highway South regarding a physical fight. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspects had left the scene and their identity, at that time, was unknown.
Around 1:15, one of the suspects returned to the restaurant and fired several rounds with two semi-automatic pistols. No one was injured in the assault, and officers arrested the suspect outside the restaurant. Officers logged several pieces of evidence into the case, including a silver semi-automatic magazine; Winchester, PAC and S&B casings, shotgun slugs, a belt buckle, a button and a torn belt loop.
Woman assaulted by stranger near downtown
4. While returning to her car parked at 1200 South 324th Street, a woman was approached by an unknown man who grabbed her arm and left scratches. The woman told police that she did not know the suspect and that he grabbed her and walked away yelling. The report indicated that the victim believe the suspect smelled of alcohol. She told police that her arm hurts from the assault.
City van broken into at City Hall
5. An employee with the city of Federal Way came into the station to report his work truck was broken into while parked on the street in front of City Hall at 33325 8th Avenue South. The driver returned to the vehicle and found the passenger door lock punched as well as a camera (an Olympus D-560Z) and various tools stolen from the white 2002 Ford. There are no witnesses or suspects, and officers have closed the case pending new leads.
Burglars steal loaded gun, jewelry
6. Officers responded to a home burglary that took place on the 2300 block of Southwest 344th Street. The homeowner told police that he returned home and found the door lock and jam broken. The thieves stole a loaded handgun, a Glock 17 valued at $470, and various pieces of jewelry with a combined value of more than $2,800. Officers could not lift any prints from the scene. The police entered the firearm into NCIC.
Tweaker picked up on drugs, fraud
7. Federal Way officers arrived at 29130 Pacific Highway South in response to a suspicious subject at the scene. The police contacted the suspect, Edward A. Jewell, and discovered that he had several warrants out for his arrest. A routine search of his person turned up suspected methamphetamine in his pocket and a credit card in another person's name. Jewell was arrested and booked.
Violent abuser on the loose
8. A woman, who lives in the apartment complex at 952 Southwest Campus Drive, contacted police to report that her ex-boyfriend threatened to kill her. The woman believes that her ex was capable of carrying out the threats because he has a prior history of several misdemeanor assaults.
The man also has a history of domestic violence, including an incident with a hammer. She also told police that her ex-boyfriend has a bad temper and is aggressive.
The suspect left the scene before officers arrived and they could not locate him. The police took written statements from the victim and provided her with a domestic violence info sheet.
