Suspects Zachary Lee, left, and Rayburn Lee
After the events of March 7th, Sean Kiteley, 28, of Federal Way, will probably think twice before he attempts to catch a criminal again, at least until he succeeds in his dream of become a King County Sheriff Deputy.
At around 9 A.M. that day, a silver Volkswagen Corrado Coupe rear-ended Kiteley's black Acura in the 35600 block of Pacific Highway South. Kiteley called 9-1-1 to report that the driver had smashed into his car and took off. Kiteley himself then followed the driver that hit him to the Heights Apartments at 125 SW Campus Drive. There the Federal Way police met him, made a report and cleared the scene.
Meanwhile, the hit and run driver and his brother were apparently hiding out around the corner, watching the police make their investigation.
As soon as the police left, the suspect, Rayburn Lee, 24, and his brother Zachary, 18, came out from hiding and attacked Kiteley. First the two hit Kiteley with the butt of a handgun, and then stabbed him repeatedly in the face and torso. Rayburn Lee then got into Kiteley's car and smashed it into a parked Audi.
Kiteley, a father of two, had called his wife right before the attack, and she and their four-year-old son arrived just in time to witness the Lee brothers' vicious assault.
The family called 9-1-1 again as Kiteley lay bleeding, and according to his twin brother, Adam Kiteley, without vital signs. Kiteley was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, where he is still recovering from his wounds, a collapsed lung and multiple stab wounds.
Kiteley was understandably not available for comment.
Federal Way police caught up with Rayburn Lee shortly after the event, and witnesses positively identified him, but Zachary Lee remained at large until he turned himself in on March 13th.
Rayburn Lee is being held at the King County Jail on $250,000 bail. Zachary Lee awaits sentencing at the Regional Justice Center in Kent.
