Decatur's season came to a screeching halt as it went to the Saturday, Nov. 11, state quarterfinals and battled Woodinville to a 2-2 tie through two overtimes before losing in a penalty kick shootout that put the final score at 3-2.
The Gators fell to 10-6-4 overall as Woodinville improved to 13-3-4 and advanced to play in "Final Four" action after press time this past weekend.
Erin McDevitt scored the first goal of the game for Woodinville on a Hannah Greig assist in the seventh minute before Decatur struck for the next two goals.
Cristina Valenzuela scored on a penalty kick in the 34th minute and Kelsey Disbrow struck on a Laura Bressler assist in the 63rd minute.
But Whitney Kiker of Woodinville tied it up again in the 77th minute on a Greig assist.
The score remained tied until it was settled by a goal by Heather Thomas at the end of the shootout.
Pop Keeney Field in Bothell hosted the game.
