The visiting Todd Beamer Titans led most of the way against the Thomas Jefferson Raiders. The key word is 'most.'
The Lady Raiders came back from a 10-point deficit at the half to win, 37-36, in Wednesday's non-league contest.
TJ improved to 5-2 overall to go with a 2-2 mark in the South Puget Sound League North while the SPSL South Titans dropped to 4-5 to go with their 2-2 league record.
Kelli Calvin hit a couple threes in the first two frames for the Titans, and Mikki Akins' outside shooting and driving layups and Joelle Austin's feisty play altogether helped stake their team to a 10-point lead at the half, 22-12.
The Raiders got things going in the third quarter and started to come back, which was going to be the happy ending expected all along for these players from TJ.
"No doubt in my mind," said Raiders senior captain and guard Michelle Borth, who hit back to back shots, including a three-pointer that helped the Raiders make it 32-25 going into the fourth, with, yes, the Titans still leading by a sizeable margin.
The Raiders kept picking away and it came down to 5-10 junior post Sofia Malamura with a minute left making free throws that made the score go from 36-35 Titans to 37-36 Raiders.
