Paul Ishii, of Federal Way, was elected to a second term as Secretary of 4Culture's Board.
As General Manager of the Mayflower Park Hotel, Mr. Ishii is responsible for the daily and long-term operations of the longest continuously operating hotel in Seattle, one of a select group of Historic Hotels of America affiliated with the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
He is currently a Board member and past president of the Seattle Hotel Association, serves on the Washington State Hotel and Lodging Association Board, the Mayor's Economic Task Force and the boards of the Center for Career Alternatives, Downtown Seattle Association and Historic Hotels of America.
A painter and photographer, Mr. Ishii understands the benefits of cultural tourism and works to maintain and enhance King County's reputation as a cultural destination.
Mr. Ishii previously was general manager of the Citadel Hotel Group in Jakarta, Indonesia where he was responsible for hotel construction, financial assessments, tourist development research, formulation of marketing and business plans, and other matters.
Prior to that he handled similar operations for Park Lane International and ITT Sheraton Corporation in Seattle, San Francisco, Phoenix and Boston.
He earned a B.A. degree in Business Administration at Washington State University.
4Culture is King County's cultural services agency.
4Culture was established in January of 2003 to continue the work of the King County Arts Commission, Public Art Commission and the heritage programs of the Landmarks Commission. In mid-2003, 4Culture launched a Preservation Program to promote the value of historic resources in building a unique sense of place in our region.
