Mike Garske is set for three fund raising events over the next three months to benefit the family of officer Steve Cox of White Center. Cox was killed in the line of duty last December. The fallen officer fund raiser plans to donate proceeds from the event to assist Cox's family. For more information go to www.fallenofficertournament.org.
The third annual Fallen Officer Fund raiser is a triple play this year with a softball tourney, silent auction and golf scramble.
Event organizer, Detective Mike Garske, has plans to raise as much or more than the $15,000 the group achieved last year to assist families of fallen officers.
The family of Steve Cox, slain last December in White Center, was chosen to receive any funds collected from the three events.
While these are not King County Sheriff's sanctioned fund raisers, Garske and others have contributed countless off duty hours to making them happen.
The softball tourney, co-ed, is to be held August 11-12 at Fort Dent Park in Tukwila. The silent auction/dinner is set for August 11th at 6 p.m. at the DoubleTree Suites at SouthCenter.
The golf scramble tees off October 5th at 11 a.m. at Rainier Golf & Country Club.
