Federal Way 22, Rogers 21
A Kellen Rowe kick for an extra point proved to be the difference as the Eagles opened with a one-point victory over Rogers on the road Friday, Aug. 31.
A 17-yard pass connection from Justin Southern to Shane Elliott tied the game at 21-21 before Rowe put the team ahead to stay.
Andre Barrington put the Eagles ahead to start off the game, scoring on a 1-yard run that led to a Rowe kick.
Barrington struck again on a 10-yard run in the second quarter and he also ran for a two-point conversion for a 15-15 halftime tie.
Todd Beamer 49, TJ 14
The Titans amassed a 49-0 lead before Thomas Jefferson could get on the board with 14 points in the fourth quarter to end the Friday, Aug. 31 non-league season opener for both teams.
Nicky Fualaau recovered a fumble and returned it 21 yards for the first six points and Lamardray Fuller followed it with his first of five straight successful PAT kicks.
Justin Lee rushed in on a 1-yard run and then Fuller scored on a 43-yard run and a 97-yard run.
Josh Waller then snagged a 20-yard pass from Christian Cooper and the Titans followed with two points on a safety before Waller caught another 20-yard touchdown from Cooper. Cooper ran for the final touchdown as well before Bryant Cameron went to work for Thomas Jefferson.
Cameron caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Stark and a 19-yard pass from Stark. Raul Kumar made both kicks for extra points.
Decatur 28, White River 13
Jung recovered a fumble in the end zone and Waddle made the ensuing PAT kick to get the Gators started in the non-league contest played Saturday, Sept. 1.
John Duncan caught a 26-yard pass from Cameron Schilling for Decatur's second score and Waddle made his kick, and Parker Herbert recovered a fumble in the end zone for another TD. Waddle's kick was good, and he was also successful after Chase King struck on a 60-yard run
Spanaway Lk. 35, TJ 31
The Raiders came up just short of victory in the Thursday, Sept. 6 game at Bethel against Spanaway Lake.
Cameron Schilling scored on a 58-yard pass from Stark and a 72-yard pass from Stark and Erik Harshfield booted both extra points. He was also successful after Schilling returned a fumble 97 yards for a touchdown.
TJ's Jerry Burton scored on a 38-yard throw from Stark and Harshfield's kick gave the Raiders a 28-6 lead at the time.
But Spanaway Lake battled back the rest of the way to win it, with Harshfield putting TJ's only points for the fourth quarter in on a 32-yard field goal.
G-K 27, Federal Way 18
Graham-Kapowsin prevailed over Federal Way in a battle of teams that go by the name of Eagles Thursday,
Federal Way started off the scoring as Rowe booted a 29-yard field goal with 5:37 to go in the first quarter. Teammate Aaron Broussard snagged a pass from Justin Southern for a 50-yard touchdown seven seconds into the second quarter and Rowe added the extra point kick for a 10-0 lead.
Graham-Kapowsin answered with a touchdown with 8:13 to play before halftime. Marcel Smith scored on a 16-yard run and Ryan Johnson kicked the PAT to make it 10-7.
Rowe came up just short of a 51-yard field goal in the final second of the half, and Smith struck for a 2-yard touchdown at 8:36 left in the third quarter. Johnson's kick made it 14-10.
Smith followed with a touchdown six seconds into the fourth quarter and Johnson made the kick, and Federal Way put its final points on the board with 9:24 left on a 2-yard run by Andre Barrington. Johnson's kick made it 21-18.
Graham-Kapowsin's Smith ran for a 5-yard rushing touchdown with 1:39 remaining and Johnson's kick was blocked to leave the final at 27-18 left.
"I've had better nights," said Eagles head coach John Meagher just after the game concluded. "It was real sloppy first half. But everything here is fixable and it's a non-league game."
Beamer 31, Decatur 21
Todd Beamer topped a second crosstown rival Friday to give it two legs of the all-city title. The Titans will not play Federal Way unless it's in the postseason, however.
Josh Waller opened Beamer's attack on Decatur by returning the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, then he scored the second TD on a 20-yard pass reception from Christian Cooper.
Josh Duncan caught a 33-yard pass from Cameron Schilling for the Gators and Schilling caught the PAT. Waller answered by running in a 63-yard touchdown on a pass from Cooper.
Schllling then scored on a 5-yard run and made his PAT, then Beamer's Fuller struck on a 15-yard run and Cooper on a 4-yard run.
Decatur's Chase King scored on a 4-yard run for the game's final TD and Schiling made the kick.
Fuller kicks for Beamer and made two attempts.

The Titans of Todd Beamer tripped up Thomas Jefferson in a crosstown/non-league game Wednesday, Sept. 5.
Jordan Salisbury scored the opening goal for Beamer on an assist from Brittany Orr assist in the 60th minute and Holland Crook scored the second goal eight minutes later on a Kaylee Huie assist. Megan Miller assisted Salisbury on a goal in the 76th minute.
Maia Kurnik earned the shutout on goal.

Decatur was shut out in non-league action Wednesday, Sept. 5

Amy Anderson and Lindsey Sandwith split the shutout on goal for the Eagles of Des Moines in their Wednesday, Sept. 5 match.
Megan Valerio, Kelsey D'Andrade and Megume Potter all scored two goals and Kelly Fuegmann had one.
Federal Way 2, Sumner 1
Sumner jumped out to a 1-0 lead Thursiday, but Kendel Feider of the Eagles knotted it with a goal off of a Lydia Berger assist in the 33rd minute. Molly Campbell scored what turned out to be the winning goal on a Haley Ward assist in the 43rd minute.

TJ's Joe Lee beat Harry Choi, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 1 singles match in the Tuesday, Sept. 4 opener for both teams and Kyle Creek won No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2, over Matt Crahan.
Derek Moore and Makoa Rosa teamed up for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Alex Khudoliy and Charlie Chu and Chase McLaughlin and Kevin Park won No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-1, over Alex Eddy and Devin Murphy. Brandyn Gomez and Ty Garceau won No. 3 doubles, 6-2, 6-3, over Yoon Lim and Ryan Westerdahl.

Jake Stewart of the Eagles posted a 6-0, 6-0 No. 1 singles win in Tuesday, Sept. 4 action and teammate Jesse Johnson won the No. 2 match, 6-1, 6-0.
Brian Shaw and Max Ward won No. 1 doubles and Matt Christopher and Matt Dahl won No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 7-5. Brett Scarpello and Jason Guo took a close, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 10-8, No. 3 doubles loss.

Kyle Christensen scored a 6-3, 6-0 No. 1 singles win in the Tuesday, Sept. 4 match and Titans teammate Charles Chan won No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-5.
Corey Zalewski and Sean O'Bryan won the No. 1 doubles match, 6-3, 6-0, and Mike Johnson and Chase Friedrich took No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-0. William David and Austin Aulava were 6-2, 6-0 No. 3 doubles winners.

The Gators took second place in a three-way match Tuesday, Sept. 4. Decatur scored 70 points behind the 66 of Spanaway Lake but ahead of the 85 of Auburn-Riverside.
