Politics takes center stage later this month in Breeders Theater's 13th production, Crazy/Naked, at E.B. Foote Winery, 127-B S.W. 153rd St., Burien.
Written by Highline playwright T.M. Sell, Crazy/Naked is directed by Doug Knoop with music by Nancy Warren.
Knoop suggested the idea for the show last year.
"After the holidays it's going to be all about politics," Knoop recalled recently.
"I said something to this effect when TM and I were discussing the 2008 winter show ... imagining the onslaught of debates, campaign promises and endless television commercials that will bombard us before the big presidential election next November."
It was a natural for Sell.
"Crazy/Naked is largely based on things I've seen people do and heard them say in more than 30 years of watching and writing about politics," he noted.
"People don't pay enough attention to politics, at all levels, and sometimes they make choices that at least invite questions."
Sell also teaches political science at Highline Community College.
Crazy/Naked follows Breeders Theater's summer 2007 show, Out of the Nest.
The cast includes Yana Kesala, Eric Hartley, Luke Amundson, Kelly Johnson, J. Howard Boyd, Teresa Widner and Martin J. Mackenzie.
Show dates are Jan. 18, 19, 23, 25, 26, 30, 31 and Feb. 1, 2 at 7 p.m., Jan. 20 and 27 at 2 p.m., and Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.
The Jan. 30 show is a benefit for the Highline College Foundation.
The show includes tasting of E.B. Foote's award winning wines and hors d'oeurves, still for only $20.
Tickets are available at the winery, 206-242-3852, and at Corky Cellars, 22511 Marine View Drive, Des Moines, 206-824-9462.
