SPSL South
Todd Beamer captured fourth place in the South Puget Sound League South Division tournament, scoring 181 points.
Trevor Mills won the 130-pound clash for the Titans by a 10-2 major decision over teammate Corey Obungen and Tyler Enos won by a 6-5 score at 135 pounds.
David Sullivan took second at 215 pounds, coming up short in the championship, 9-6.
Gymnastics
SPSL meet
Puyallup accomplished a first place finish in the South Puget Sound League meet, scoring 175 to edge out Todd Beamer's 170 and the 165 score of Thomas Jefferson. Federal Way finished 13th with 133 points and Decatur came in 14th with 129.
Cassie Peterson of Beamer took second in the all-around with a score of 34.725.
Peterson placed first in the vault with a 9.150 with teammate Kaylyn Borden third with a 9.00.
Borden won the beam with a 9.40 with Peterson scoring a 9.25 for third. Borden was second in the floor exercise with a 9.575.
Tuesday, February 5
Boys basketball
Decatur 57, Kentwood 50
Decatur edged out Kentwood in a tiebreaker playoff.
Marcus Tibbs led the way past the powerful Conquerors with 25 points
and Michael Hale scored 22.
Puyallup 82, Beamer 54
Todd Beamer also played a tiebreaker last Tuesday and won, led by the
15 points of Dakin Wanquist and the nine scored by Rob Thomas.
Girls basketball
TJ 55, Kentlake 37
Thomas Jefferson also won a tiebreaker playoff Tuesday. Hannah Kiyohara
led with 17 points and Unique Taufa'asau hit 13.
Wednesday, Feb. 6
Boys basketball
Federal Way 105, Kingston 35
Federal Way put away Kingston in a lopsided non-league game, led by the
22 points of Daniel Young. Jeff Forbes swished in 16 as Andre
Barrington, Cole Dickerson and Isiah Umipig all tossed in 12. Aaron
Broussard and George Williams both hit eight.
Friday, Feb. 8
Girls basketball
TJ 55, Rogers 49
Hannah Kiyohara came up big for the Raiders in the South Puget Sound League tournament action held at Thomas Jefferson Friday.
Kiyohara poured in 23 points to lead the way for the Raiders, as teammate Unique Taufa'asau hit 10 and Sofia Malamura scored seven.
