Tires slashed; business owners believe co-workers to blame

1. Federal Way officers followed up on a report of malicious mischief that occurred at a residence on the 32600 block of 16th Court Southwest. When the police arrived, they spoke with the victim, Rafael Rios Serratos, who stated that four vehicles were damaged on his property. According to Serratos, one tire on each of his four vehicles had been slashed with a sharp object by an unknown person or persons. The tires were all flat, Serratos told police. The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on July 15 and 6 a.m. on July 16. Officers could locate no fingerprints at the scene. Serratos told police that he believed the suspect or suspects might one of his co-workers. The victim said that he's been having problems with some of his co-workers lately. Serratos owns a gray 2008 Mazda, a white 2005 Nissan, a yellow 2002 Ford and a silver 1996 Dodge. The Federal Way police have no suspect information at this time and have closed the case pending new leads.
Burglary leaves victim without laptop and iPod
2. Officers arrived at the scene of a home break-in that occurred at a residence on the 32900 block of 17th Avenue Southwest. The incident took place sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. on the morning of July 16. Victim Joseph W. Kuhn told officers that during the night an unknown person or persons entered his residence and stole various electronics items from inside. Kuhn listed a black IBM Thinkpad, valued at $1,000 and an Apple iPod mp3 player, valued at $250.00 among the stolen property. One of the items, the report stated, belongs to the Qwest company. According to the police report, the victim stated that the suspect or suspects entered the residence through a sliding glass door and took the previously mentioned items without the homeowner's permission. There is no suspect information listed in the report and officers have closed the case pending new leads.
Verizon Wireless kiosk burglarized at Commons Mall
3. Federal Way officers arrived at the scene of a theft that had taken place at the Commons Mall, located at 1922 South Commons. According to the report, the owner of the Verizon Wireless kiosk told police that an unknown person or persons had burglarized the kiosk and taken thousands of dollars in merchandise without permission. The thief or thieves had swiped the items from the kiosk display cases. Employee Zachery Walker told officers that he was conducting an inventory of the stolen goods and would report back to the police with the exact dollar amount in order to file an insurance claim. There is no suspect information listed in the report and officers have closed the case pending new leads. The incident took place between 11:30 p.m. on July 15 and 8:30 a.m. on July 16.
Lakehaven Utility master key stolen
4. Representatives from the Federal Way utility contacted the local police to report the theft of the master access key. The key was reportedly stolen sometime between July 11 and 9:30 a.m. on July 16. According the report, employee Jason Sherwood contacted the police after the key turned up missing. The master access key opens up all Lakehaven Utility locations. After an investigation, officers could locate no evidentiary information at or near the scene. There is no suspect information available, either. The key was stolen from Lakehaven Utility property at 35900 Pacific Highway South.
Welfare check turns up nothing
5. Federal Way officers followed up on a request for a welfare check around 10:15 on the morning of July 16. The welfare check was conducted on behalf of two minor children whom CPS believed were living in a home that possibly contained guns and drugs. The welfare check was conducted at an apartment complex at 1832 Southwest 318th Place. Officers made contact with the resident at the address. They determined that the home was clean, that there was food in the refrigerator and cupboards. According the officers' assessment, the children seemed well nourished.
Shoplifting leads to juvenile arrest at Commons Mall
6. Federal Way officers waited outside the Sears Commons Mall exit for a juvenile shoplifting suspect to exit. According to the information they had received, the suspect had taken two shoes from the Sears stock and hid them under his waistband. The incident took place at 1922 South Commons around 11:10 a.m. on the morning of July 16. The shoes were valued at approximately $42.00. Both shoes were recovered and return to the shelves of the Sears department store. The suspect name is not mentioned because he is a juvenile.
Domestic assault gives victim a sore neck and lands abuser in jail
7. Federal Way police followed up on a 911 call that stated there was a domestic dispute in progress at a home on the 200 block of Southwest 355 Place. The call came in around 11 p.m. on the evening of July 16. According the victim, her boyfriend - listed in the report as Arthur Mitchell - pushed her violently from behind and caused her neck to snap back. The officers' report indicated that the victim was in a great deal of pain from the assault. The Federal Way police placed Mitchell into custody and booked him in the Fife Jail.
Chevron station employees steal customer's credit card for in-store shopping spree
8. Federal Way police investigated a case of fraud that had taken place at the Chevron station, located at 34727 Pacific Highway South. According to the report, Chevron manager Christina Nelson-Wetherbee told police that she had conducted an internal investigation of fraudulent credit card charges using a customer's credit card. During the course of her investigation, Christina Nelson-Wetherbee discovered that two Chevron employees, whose names are omitted from the police report, had used the victim's credit card to fraudulently charge $630.00 in transactions while working in the store. The call to police came in around 11:00 a.m. on the morning of July 16. No other information is listed in the report.
Apartment owner believes drug activity is taking place on his property
9. Federal Way officers met with the apartment complex owner regarding his suspicions that drug activity was taking place at his property, specifically unit 2. The apartment owner told police that he found a small baggie of white powder in it next to a red Ford Explorer. The man told police that a one-legged black male drives the Explorer, and he believes that person dropped the baggie. The call came in around 1:40 p.m. on the afternoon of July 16. The man owns the Tarton Arms Townhomes, located at 30332 15th Court South. Federal Way officers removed the baggie and powder and placed it into evidence for destruction.
Unknown emailer impersonates Christian Faith Center pastor
10. Teresa Fazekas, a representative of the Christian Faith Center, located at 33645 20th Avenue South, contacted Federal Way police to report a fraudulent email. In the email, received on June 24, the sender claimed to be the pastor. No other information is listed in the report.
