Ballard High School senior Gillian Huggins has been named to the All-KingCo Second Team after she helped lead her varsity basketball team into the playoffs this season.
Huggins was instrumental in the team's success. She was a force on defense, rebounding and scoring, racking up 276 points. Her per game average was 12.6 points and 11 rebounds.
"It says a lot about Gillian's consistent level of play to be considered one of the top ten players in a conference as strong as KingCo 4A, said Head Coach Karen Blair.
Huggins was the only player in KingCo to average a double double in points and rebounds.
"Gillian demonstrated a great work ethic and outstanding leadership for the team throughout the season. It was an honor to be able to coach a person of her character and abilities," said Blair.
Senior Charlotte Shannon was named to the All-KingCo Honorable Mention list. Shannon averaged 9 points a game and was the team's second leading scorer and rebounder.
"Charlotte had an outstanding year for us. Everyday she came to practice ready to work hard, learn and improve. All of that effort showed when she stepped on the court. Charlotte deserves to be recognized for not only her play on the court, but for her leadership and dedication to the team," said Blair.
Nigel Peter Denman was named to the KingCo 4A Honorable Mention list. Denman is a guard on the Ballard Beavers boy's varsity team.
