Children of all ages celebrated Easter at the Ballard Community Center last Saturday during their annual Easter Egg Hunt. Older kids searched for Easter eggs on the playfield, while the young ones were in the gymnasium, where plastic eggs were spread out on the floor. Inside the eggs were candy and little slips of paper to earn prizes like chocolate bunnies, stuffed rabbits and toy packages.
"There's probably going to be eggs and stuff," said seven-year-old Joseph Currin, anticipating the hunt. Last year Currin collected half a bag of eggs and his sister won a prize.
Three-year-old Page Swenson has come to this egg hunt since she was a baby and won a chocolate bunny last year. This time she came dressed as a "cowgirl egg hunter.'
Greg Martin brought his five-month-old daughter Lily, but left the egg chasing to 2 and a half-year-old son Paul.
"He knows there's candy somewhere and he's excited," said Paul's mother, Shawn.
"It's a bit overwhelming for dad," said Greg Martin.
