I am writing because I have lived in north Ballard for 19 years and I have often enjoyed shopping in Ballard. I liked being able to park and walk around. I usually went to JoAnn Fabrics, Bartell Drugs, and then down the street to Starbucks and around to some of the other nice little shops in downtown Ballard. Many times, I found some unique items to purchase.
I would like the city planners of Ballard to know that I will no longer be shopping in Ballard. The reason for my decision is that I do not want to pay for parking there. It's one thing to make a trip to downtown Seattle - one expects to pay for parking there. It's quite another thing to have to pay for parking on all the streets near downtown Ballard. One day when I went to Bartell Drugs, there was a man checking cars to make sure they were shopping at Bartell Drugs. I'm sure that my absence from Ballard probably won't hurt its economy, but there may be others who feel the same way I do, and I intend to discourage other people from shopping there as well.
Thank you Ballard City Planners!
