Football team recognized
Danny Hawkins, a linebacker for the Ballard Beavers has been named to the KingCo 4A All-League Second Team Defense for his play this past season. Lineman Trevor Forbes and running back Colin Matthiesen were named to the Honorable Mention list.
The final league statistics are out and Matthieson was 20th in the league in rushing with 286 yards, followed by Terrance Garcia at 21st with 252 yards.
Quarterback Joey Bolinger finished the year seventh in passing in KingCo. He had 116 pass attempts with 63 completions for a 54 percent average. He has thrown 17 touchdowns with seven interceptions. Clayton Brenden, who replaced Bolinger when he was injured, was 12th in passing.
Elliott Tonning was 11th in the league with 454 yards rushing. Miles Schwaab, who was All-KingCo in 2005 at wide receiver in 2005, caught 18 passes for 259 yards good for 12th best in the league. Antonio Morton was 13th with 15 receptions and 256 yards and two touchdowns.
In total offense yards, Bolinger had 71 rushing and 745 passing for ninth best in KingCo.
Volleyball season honors
Ballard volleyball players Mallory Lemafa and Molly Moore made the Honorable Mention list for KingCo 4A. The Beavers made a late season run and qualified for the league playoffs.
Basketball clinic

A Youth Basketball Player Skills Clinic presented by the Ballard High School Girl's Basketball Players and Coaches on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. The cost of the clinic is a donation of non-perishable food or money for the Ballard Food Bank.
This is an opportunity for youngsters to work on their shooting, passing, ball handling and position play for point guards, wing and post players. Coaches can bring their entire team and work as a group. To register email: karenjblair@aol.com with the number of participants and what grade they are in. Registration may be taken on the day of the clinic, depending on space.
A packet of information on drills for coaches is available upon request for $5. The clinic will be held at Ballard High School, 1418 N.W. 65th St.
Pool's re-opening gala
The Ballard Pool's Re-Opening Gala is on Saturday, Dec.. 2 from 2-5 p.m. There will be food, fun and entertainment with free public swimming, free two lane lap swimming, games and prizes for kids. There will be demonstrations by Ballard Beaver diving coach David Dawson, synchronized swimming with Olga Drogomiretskiy and water polo. Free demonstration classes include: water exercise and swimming, both 15 minutes. The address is 1471 N.W. 67th St. Call 684-4094.
