Beavers extend wins

The Ballard Beavers put on an impressive offensive show to trounce city rival Franklin on Friday 42-14, while extending their winning streak to two games.
"The kids played hard. We took advantage of their turnovers and we executed," said Head Coach Alex Barashkoff.
While the defense forced turnovers and played put in a solid effort, it was the offensive stars that most excited the fans.
Running back Carlos Stanley gave fans plenty to cheer about with a 44-yard interception return and a 85-yard kick off return. Both were good for touchdowns
Coaches have set a goal of scoring three times on kickoff returns this season. "We worked hard on special teams to get one," said Barashkoff.
Receiver Max McGraw caught a 43-yard pass from quarterback Joey Bolinger for another six points.
Bolinger is earning the respect of his opponents with three touchdown passes and running the ball on quarterback draws on numerous occasions.
"Joey had a great game. We needed that from him. He make some key completions early. It was nice to have Joey throw the ball well," said Barashkoff.
Colin Matthiesen caught a six-yard touchdown pass and defensive lineman Kellen Jones rumbled into the end zone after picking up a fumble.
The Beavers opened their season with an uninspiring loss against Juanita 22 to 13. It was a game both the team and the coaching staff felt should have been a win.
Ballard then lost to Woodinville 27-6 the following week.
Things began to turn around when the Beavers surprised the Redmond Mustangs on Sept. 14 to earn their first victory 27-22.
"We were excited about last week's game, beating an eastside team on the road," said Barashkoff.
McGraw has been playing at a high level with four touchdowns so far in 2007. He had runs of 69 and 55 yards in the Redmond win. Pass receptions of 11 and 25 yards from quarterback Bolinger in the Juanita game were good for touchdowns.
Julian Montante scored on a 12 yard running play in the Redmond game and Bolinger reached the end zone on a quarterback sneak of one yard against Woodinville.
Ballard plays Inglemoor at Memorial Stadium on Sept. 28 and then meet Roosevelt on Oct. 5 at Memorial, 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out in their red and black Beaver colors. The Roughrider game is Ballard's Homecoming.
