Ballard High School golfer Nick Palewicz finished in sixth place in the KingCo tournament and eighth place at the District 2 tournament recently.
"He did real well. He was the first (Ballard) guy who has made it that far in a long time," said coach Casey McMullin.
Palewicz had 76 strokes in the KingCo 4A Medalist Golf Tournament at the Snohomish Golf Course.
Ballard's Nico Van Derven, Reese Futrell, Eric Frank, Ross Upton and Levi Brennan also represented the Beavers at KingCo but did not place in the top ten.
As a team, Ballard was fifth with 430 points. Woodinville, Eastlake and Redmond with the top three teams respectively.
In the District 2 Golf Tournament, also played at Snohomish, Palewicz had 76 strokes.
Golfers from Woodinville, Eastlake and Redmond were the top teams again, respectively. Ballard as a team was fifth with 37 points. Van Derven and Futrell joined Palewicz at Districts. They finished out of the top 12.
In his fist year as the Ballard boy's golf coach, McMullin was pleased with the results. "It was really fun to have them play that well. It was pretty good seeing it for the first time," said McMullin.
With only three seniors, next year's team is expected to do well. "We have a lot of returning players next year. We expect the same high level," said McMullin.
