football players
I just about jumped out of my chair when I read that letter from the lady in the paper who was yelling at the Loyal Heights people because all they want is a little peace and quiet. She turned up her nose at them something fierce, and proclaimed on and on about how the quiet and kind little soccer players up there just don't even bother anyone. Now that's a good one.
I've been around a long time, and certainly long enough to have seen and heard plenty of loud-mouthed soccer and football players. They spit, they swear, and those football coaches, well they really seem to get a real big thrill yelling at kids who are no taller than a dog. I have never seen or heard such hollering in my entire life. It sure doesn't take much in the way of gumption to holler at a little kid who comes up about as high as your knees.
I say to heck with all the hooting and hollering from the soccer people and their politician buddies. How come they run everything now anyway? The next thing you know, they'll be clamoring to make every park in town a soccer field, like they have some kind of right to it.
And one more thing. They always say things like "well you know there was a sports field before there before those selfish neighbors" etc. etc. Well here is a really big news flash for them: The Indians, and the trees, and the deer were all here before anyone even knew about soccer. So maybe we should just rip out that Astroturf and put the trees back there like it was in the first place, and the soccer snobs can go read a book or go to the zoo!
