Police responded to a case of malicious mischief at the Avis Car Rental business at 32610 Pacific Highway South. The owner/manager reported that one of the rental vehicles was damaged overnight, between 6:30 p.m. and 8 a.m. the following morning. Vandals smashed the right rear window, but did not take anything from the vehicle.
The resident of 29258 12th Place South reported that his neighbor returned several pieces of opened mail that they found in their yard. The man received several pieces of mail addressed to his girlfriend, but did not received a Qwest paycheck and a bank statement he was expecting. Qwest required the man to place a police report to issue a stop payment on the check.
A 37-year-old developmentally disabled man at 33400 8th Avenue South, #136, hit his nose and face on the counter after having a seizure. The staff at the facility where he lived did not administer his medication on time because they did not hear back from the pharmacy.
Officers could locate no signs of forced entry to a 1993 Chevy parked at 27914 Pacific Highway South, where a couple reported that their vehicle had been broken into and their CD player and CDs were stolen. The items were valued at more than $350.
A report indicates that a 43-year-old woman claimed she was neglected by the hospital when she was admitted for pneumonia. The hospital said that the woman was competent of making her own decisions and refused medical treatment until her sickness became worse.
Officers investigated the residence at 143 South 331 Place, #705, where a 91-year-old woman and her daughter were living in unsanitary conditions. They were being evicted for failure to pay the rent. Police found the apartment vacated when they arrived.
The clerk at the Dollarwise store at 31007 Pacific Highway South notified police around 9 a.m. when a customer attempted to cash a check she believed was stolen. The suspect, a woman, left the check and her ID at the business.
The resident of 2110 SW 349th Place notified police that someone damaged a fish pond that sits directly in front of his home. The thief stole three koi (Japanese carp), valued at $30 each. He suspects the neighbor to the west as the culprit, but has no proof. The man had an ongoing property line dispute with the neighbor, but hasn't had contact with them recently.
Officers responded to a verbal domestic dispute at 29414 21st Place South, R5, where a woman reported her husband had destroyed their family vehicle with a baseball bat. The husband was gone when officers arrived. The woman had no signs of injury.
The resident of 4915 SW 319th Lane, #E-102, reported that she saw a black man running out of her back door when she got home around 4:30 p.m. The man was carrying her Xbox and games as he fled the residence. The woman didn't recognize the man and didn't get a good look at his face.
A woman living at 36428 6th Avenue SW contacted police to report three checks stolen from her residence. Two of the checks were cashed. She suspects that two people staying at her residence while she was away cashed the checks.
At 12:30 p.m., a man was having lunch at the Arby's restaurant at 31675 Pacific Highway South, when thieves broke out the driver's side rear door of his vehicle and stole his luggage and laptop. The vehicle and laptop are property of his company, the man said, but the luggage, valued at more than $1,000 with his clothing inside, were his property. There were no witnesses and officers closed the case pending no new leads.
CPS notified Federal Way police when they received a letter from a man, George, stating that his wife, Josephine, was abusing their nine- and four-year-old children when they lived in Africa. The police told the man to report any abuse if it happens in America.
Another resident at the same complex reported that her vehicle was broken into the same day. The woman is a pharmaceutical rep and she believes her car was targeted by someone living in the complex. She told police that someone might have seen her bringing drug samples in and out of her vehicle. The driver's side doorlock was punched and the doors and trunck were left open. Thieves stole nearly $900 in medication, along with $300 in CDs, file boxes and duffel bag.
A hit-and-run accident was reported around 1:30 a.m. at 36600 Enchanted Parkway South.
A man reported that someone broke into the construction site at 3000 SW 309th Place and stole various items. The burglar used a torch device to cut through the lock.
The resident of 4916 SW 326th Place notified police that someone continually vandalizes her home, usually between midnight and 4 a.m. Someone rung her doorbell repeatedly and left beer bottles in front of her residence. The woman also told police that someone used strawberry syrup to write profanities on her driveway, calling her daughter, a Decatur High School student, a slut. Neither the woman nor her daughter has any idea who the vandals are.
Officers were dispatched to 33406 22nd Avenue SW after someone reported that a woman had cut her boyfriend with a knife. Officers arrested the woman and the boyfriend was taken to the hospital. The man required several stitches for the knife wound to his arm.
Officers responded to three different thefts at Wild Waves on August 16. One man placed his cell phone in a locker around 9 a.m., but failed to close the door completely. When he returned, he found the door open and his phone missing. Another man reported his wallet stolen, although he is not certain when it was taken. Another Wild Waves customer reported that his wallet had been stolen as well, possibly from his bag when he sat it down momentarily.
Detectives are investigated a case of a 39-year-old developmentally disabled woman that is allegedly being exploited by her 34-year-old guardian. The guardian is receiving money for the woman's care, but is not paying the facility where she lives. The disabled woman now owes $10,400.
