Burien City Councilman Stephen Lamphear was endorsed in his campaign for re-election by the King County Democratic Party last week.
By giving Lamphear a "sole endorsement," King County Democrats rejected former Burien Councilwoman Rose Clark's bid for a joint endorsement.
He received support from more than 75 percent of party members who voted. A two-thirds vote was required for a sole endorsement.
But Clark was endorsed by the King County Women's Political Caucus.
The women's caucus also endorsed Clark in her 1999 and 2003 races for the council.
King County Democrats also endorsed Burien Deputy Mayor Joan McGilton, who faces a primary election challenge from Bob Brice and Highline School Board member Steve Denmark, and Sue Blazack in her bid to replace Burien Mayor Noel Gibb on the city council.
In county wide races, they endorsed Ron Sims for re-election as county executive, King County Councilwoman Julia Patterson for election in new Council District 5,
But they gave no endorsement in the race for King County Sheriff, in which Sheriff Sue Rahr is opposed by Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Fuda and Seattle Police Capt. Greg Schmidt.
In the races for the Port of Seattle Commission, the Democrats endorsed incumbent Lawrence Molloy, Peter Coates, Lloyd Hara and Jack Jolley.
