A verbal argument at Alki escalated after a Shoreline resident and his friends drove to a nearby house and returned to the scene of the argument with a gun. The driver pointed the handgun at the group, then pointed it in the air and fired two shots before driving off. As he drove away, he aimed the gun out of the car and fired four more shots. Officers stopped the suspect car. The driver was booked into King County Jail for investigation of drive-by shooting. The others in the car were released. No injuries were reported.
Late Saturday, as a 31-year-old man drove in the 8800 block of Myers Way, a Cadillac with a California license plate pulled next to his driver's side door. The front-seat passenger flashed gang signs, rolled down his window, and fired two shots from a handgun at the victim. About one-and-a-half hours later, an officer recognized the vehicle and pulled it over in 11800 block of Des Moines Memorial Drive. Inside the car were a six shot .22 caliber revolver, four .22 caliber cartridges, and a BB pistol. The driver and front-seat passenger, Tukwila residents ages 16 and 20, were arrested and booked for investigation of drive-by shooting. Two other passengers were questioned and released.
Late Friday, citizens called 911 after seeing a man dump a vehicle in the 1900 block of SW Charlestown. Before officers arrived, the man returned to the car, sat down, and was throwing up. Officers found him on the walkway of a residence in the 3800 block of 19th SW. He was confused, with bloodshot, watery eyes. He refused consent for a blood draw (but one was later taken by court order). A baggie with suspected cocaine was found in the car, and a police dog indicated that drugs were in the vehicle. The suspect was known to the Department of Corrections and was booked into King County Jail for violating the terms of his probation.
A narcotics team with a search warrant shut down a marijuana-growing operation in the 5600 block of 30th SW and confiscated plants worth $10,000.
When a 77-year-old woman answered a knock at the back door Saturday night, she saw a 40-year-old male relative-someone who is barred by law from contacting her because of his history of stealing and assault. She reports that he was angry and demanded money, but left when he realized she was calling police. She told officers she had given him two checks the previous week after he told her he was living on the street after being released from jail. Officers told her to call 911 immediately if he shows up again.
A woman and friends were playing cards in an apartment in the 9400 block of 27th SW early Sunday, when they heard six gunshots. They "hit the carpet," and later discovered bullet holes in her bedroom windows and ceilings. Officers recovered six spent casings beneath the woman's window.
A 52-year-old man complained of being assaulted in Lincoln Park. But the officer taking the report couldn't get many details from the "victim," who was "very intoxicated and hostile." The victim repeatedly told the officer that he should go catch the assailants because if he didn't, the victim would "go into the park and kill them." Because of the man's condition, and fearing that he would go into the park and assault a random citizen, the officer had the man taken for a mental evaluation.
Responding to a report of boys on bikes prowling cars, officers confronted two suspects in an alley at 42nd and Findlay. One carried a backpack with tools typically used in car prowls. Both, ages 15 and 16, were cooperative and released to one boy's father.
In the 8400 block of 22nd SW, unknown persons slashed the tires of four cars parked on the street.
