Fly the flag Sept. 17-24
September 17, 1787, is the day the Constitution of the United States was signed. This Constitution together with the Bill of Rights have given us the finest form of government desired by man!
It's the duty and responsibility of each citizen to help preserve this form of government, by obeying the laws, respecting the rights and property of others, by displaying our flag and by showing that we are a Nation of United and Responsible people.
In 1956, Congress passed a resolution designating the week beginning Sept. 17 as "Constitution Week." This week is designed as a period to study our Constitution, become familiar with events leading up to its adoption, and for all citizens to give consideration as to what each can do to help preserve this great document.
It is time to display the flag on all public buildings, at our businesses and at our homes, Sept. 17-24. We can thus proclaim to all who see it that we are aware of our precious heritage; that we appreciate the serious responsibility resting on all citizens; that we are instructing our children that patriotism is real; and we are proud to be citizens of the United States. Just look around!
Please call Senators Murray (206-553-5545) and Cantwell (206-220-6400) and ask them to please not let anyone BURN OUR FLAG!
