Dean Wong

A Seattle Police Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) get ready to enter a Ballard apartment building early morning Sept. 7. The team is in search of a murder suspect and is acting on a tip from the Bremerton Police Department.
Early morning Sept. 7, a Seattle Police Department SWAT team was sent to an apartment building near the southwest corner of Northwest 67th St. and 24th Avenue Northwest in search of a murder suspect. The police had received a tip from the Bremerton Police regarding a possible murder suspect in the building.
According to the Bremerton police, Raven Marlyne Hudson has a warrant for her arrest issued by Bremerton Police in connection to the killing of a woman in that city on Aug. 31.
Police officers arrived around 5:15 a.m. and cordoned off the Ballard street. Fifteen residents of the building were evacuated from adjacent apartments.
One man at the scene was visiting a friend in the building. He was one of the people evacuated by police.
"The reason they evacuated us is they (police) said he had weapons," said the man, who asked not to be identified.
They also set up a command post in the parking lot of Bartell Drugs several blocks away, where other police and a Medic One unit from the Seattle Fire Department waited.
Seattle Police Media Relations officer Sean Whitcomb said the suspect was believed to be armed and dangerous and that an arrest and search warrant were in progress at the time of the incident.
A police van with two negotiators was parked at the 7-11 Store nearby and had tried to make contact with the suspect inside the building.
At one point, SWAT officers advanced behind an armored vehicle towards the building and shots could be heard going off. Seattle police confirmed that rounds of pepper spray were fired into the unit at 8:55 a.m. and again at 9:15 a.m.
SWAT officers then entered the apartment, only to find it empty.
Around 10 a.m., SWAT officers left the scene and gathered at the command post. There was no sign of an arrest or a suspect.
Hudson is still at large. She is a white female, 21 years old, 5 feet 1 inch tall, 167 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair, usually pulled back partially in a pony tail. She is considered armed and dangerous.
