$4 billion in four weeks gushed Cindi Laws in an interview this morning (15 Sept). Too bad only the Seattle Monorail Project Board believes this smoke.
How is it that three of the largest engineering and construction companies in the country bailed out of the monorail bidding process before the proposals were submitted? The reasons were all the same - the project was too risky.
How is it that after years of pre-proposal and proposal work using thousands of hours of engineering and finance talent that the price came in too high?
How is it that Kevin Phelps is able, in only four weeks, to cut $4 billion from an $11 billion bill?
According to The Seattle Times, he is neither a lawyer nor a budget analyst; he is a politician!
Cleve Stockmeyer certainly didn't waste any time trying to get the number back up to $11 billion or more with his push to expand the monorail to a dual-beam system across the West Seattle Bridge.
These people clearly need adult supervision. I hope the mayor and City Council can provide it.
