Arrest made in
double homicide
The gunman who allegedly shot and killed two people in the Southcenter Mall parking lot Sept. 12 was arrested last week.
On Sept. 22, Tukwila Police officers arrested a 53-year-old unemployed man without incident at the Port of Bremerton Marina after receiving a tip.
Police believe he knew the two victims, 17-year-old Ivan Payan Rojas and 27-year-old Alfonso R. Ayala. His relationship to the victims remained unclear."Officers just wanted to assure people that it wasn't a random shooting," said Tukwila Police public information officer Robbie Burns.
He was booked into the King County Jail.
Intruder dies during
N. Highline break-in
A 44-year-old woman was attacked in her home Sept. 21 after an unidentified man broke into her home.
The intruder died during a subsequent scuffle with her son.
Around 1 a.m., the woman found the stranger in her home in the 10800 block of 3rd Ave. S.W. in the Top Hat neighborhood.
The man started hitting her over the head with a flashlight.
Her son was in the house next door and ran home when he heard her screams. He tackled the man and pinned him down while his mother called 9-1-1.
When King County Sheriff's deputies arrived, the intruder was not breathing. They started CPR but could not revive him.
Investigators believe the woman and her son did not know him.
"We are unable to find any relationship," said Sgt. John Urquhart.
At Friday's deadline, the King County Medical Examiner had not released the man's identity and could not confirm how he died.
