I am not in favor of allowing Boeing Field to be opened for Southwest Airlines or other commercial aviation. It makes no sense whatsoever to establish another commercial airport a few miles away from Sea-Tac.
I am very concerned about the noise that will affect us as residents. Most of us chose the location of our homes fully knowledgeable of the location of Sea-Tac. We have invested in our homes and properties never expecting a major commercial airport just a few nautical miles from us. We don't want the noise or the devaluation of our properties. It was never the plan to turn a relatively quite Boeing Field into a busy commercial airport.
Billions of dollars have already been spent on the development and remodeling of Sea-Tac. If Southwest leaves and then Alaska - which is going to pay for all the development already done but not paid for? You and me - the taxpayer and airline passenger. And now - American Airlines is saying that if Southwest moves they too will move. As taxpayers we have enough on our plate - monorail and viaduct just to mention two (in the billions).
And what about adjacent roads and local traffic? How would all this be handled and paid for? All the additional passengers would result in a huge rise in local vehicle traffic and parking needs.
West Seattle residents speak up if you wish to retain the relatively quiet lifestyle we have. and don't be fooled by this "Christmas in July" PR spin. Beware the Trojan Horse.
