Burien City Council candidate Sue Blazak took exception last week to a campaign flyer that has been circulated in the community.
Blazak, a community activist, is running against Mayor Noel Gibb for council Position 1. She was one of three candidates supported in that flyer.
"A recent letter to the editor from Dean Parkins referred to a negative campaign flyer in which my name was mentioned," Blazak said in a written statement to the Times/News.
"I did not authorize the use of my name in the letter and its contents do not reflect my values of working cooperatively for the common good."
The flyer included statements concerning campaign contributions from Burien auto dealers.
"I have spoken to local car dealers to confirm that the views expressed are not mine," Blazak added.
"I am walking the city, delivering my own campaign literature to households, in order that people can respond to me directly."
Saying she is "eager to work with business people and community volunteers to create a city that celebrates its uniqueness and sustains a strong economy," Blazak declared, "The more we work together, the better our city will be!"
