I’m writing in regards to the possible annexation of the North Highline Unincorporated Area into Burien. I have read a lot of misinformation about this topic and this is very unfortunate since this is a serious dollar-and-cent issue.
I am opposed to the annexation for one reason and one reason only. It’ll cost me and my fellow Burien city residents money! If this annexation can not be done at NO COST to the tax paying residents of the city of Burien, then it should be shelved ASAP.
I find it incredulous that one week the Times/News editorial page can be complaining about a 9 cent a gallon gas tax and another week think nothing of backing an annexation that will cost me, and everyone else in Burien, a whole hell of a lot more money. I think you need to get your priorities straight!
You’re right, it is about business. The money that city of Burien businesses will not be getting so we can pay the for annexation. When was the last time you dined out in White Center? If you’re like a lot of people you probably drive through White Center on your way to Westwood Village, in Seattle! Just like the North Highline Unincorporated Area residents do
How does that add to Burien businesses or the city of Burien? What part of NO don’t you, the city council, the city manager or the North Highline Unincorporated Area Council understand?
