runs into bus in Burien
A 44-year-old Renton man was killed early the morning of Dec. 28 when the car in which he was riding crashed into the rear of a parked Metro bus at the Burien Transit Center.
According to King County Sheriff's spokesman Travis DeFries, the 27-year-old Seattle woman who was driving the vehicle was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
DeFries said investigating officers believe that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. He said after the woman recovers, she could be charged with vehicular homicide.
The Metro bus with no passengers on board was parked in a bus-only area at the transit center along Fourth Avenue South between Southwest 148th and Southwest 150th streets when the car ran into it at 2:12 a.m.
At the time, the bus driver reportedly was using the restroom.
Neither the victim nor the driver were not wearing seatbelts and the car, a 1991 Nissan Sentra, was not equipped with airbags, DeFries said. The man died at the scene.
Once the woman has recovered, she could be arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, DeFries said.
