I read with amusement of all the nefarious campaign finance violations and subsequent prosecutions in our neighboring city to the south, Des Moines. I say amusement, because in the dubious wisdom of the state of Washington, such goings-on would not be illegal in our fair city of Normandy Park. There can be no more clear-cut example of the cranial/posterior inversion of our state representatives than to have such wildly differing state laws in neighboring cities.
Maybe if Hank Hopkins realized that campaign finance regulations don't apply to cities with less than 5,000 voters, he could have saved himself the trouble and come here instead. He might not have gotten anywhere, but at least it would have all been legal.
