I read with great interest the article written by Jerry Robinson several weeks ago. It basically talked about all that Debra George had done for the Burien community. I must say in looking at the Discover Burien Web site referenced, it appears little work is being completed.
Do you find this to be acceptable work? I hope the editorial staff remembers there probably would have been nothing started in Burien, if I had not taken the approach of bringing the business community together. Nearly everything that is being done in Burien was created in Merchant of Burien meetings. Discover Burien is simply a funded arm of the city of Burien, in my opinion.
We all know how efficient and well run government agencies are Look at the Web site, its sorry state speaks for itself!
Now to the real root of this problem, our former mayor, Mr. Noel Gibb, my so called co-founder of the Merchants of Burien.
Noel Gibb has not once in the six years since we collaborated on my concept ever come up with an original idea. After four years in office, abandoning all of those diverse personalities that came together to form the Merchants of Burien, Mr. Gibb is now reaping what he has sowed.
[Former Burien City Manager] Gary Long spending more money on Mr. Gibb's training than any council member in 12 years is a big question in my mind. What did this cost the citizens either directly or indirectly?
I believe there needs to be a much closer look at ALL that has happened in Burien!
