Erma Goodwin was born in Spokane, Washington on February 28, 1917 to Adolph and Sophia Gerber. She had one brother, Claude, who preceded her in death. She graduated from high school in 1934 and earned her teaching and Master's degree by going to the University of Oregon, Eastern Washington University and the University of Washington.
She began teaching in Sprague, Washington in 1937, followed by several years in Ellensburg and 25 additional years in Seattle Public Schools, retiring as an elementary librarian consultant for all Seattle elementary schools.
While teaching in Sprague, she met Francis and they were married in 1942. In 1944 Susan was born. They were blessed with more children, in 1966 when Francis' youngest brother Don, and wife Jean died leaving five wonderful children. Erma and Francis got their wish for more family and took them into their lives.
In 1967, Francis died unexpectedly Life with it's ups and downs has been a great adventure for Erma and she would like all to know that she is survived by: six children, Susan Higginbotham (Terry), Joan McDowell (Ron), Donna Goodwin, Donald Goodwin (Terri), Raymond Goodwin (Jan), and Robyn Goodwin; Grandchildren Todd, Karin, Rob, Travis, Chad, Jeremiah, Jessica, Tyler, Brianna, Patrick, Amy, Kam and Kia, and great grandchildren; Brooke, Riane, Sage, and Ephanie.
Her life was filled with loving family and friends, wonderful caregivers, and many activities. God has guided her all along the way and she is now living the greatest experience with her God.
