I haven't been this PO’d at a letter to the editor since Joe Coomer left town. Bob Pierce takes shots at Debra George and puts down Discover Burien in one paragraph, and in the next takes full credit for everything that’s happened in our little town: “There probably would have been nothing started in Burien, if I had not taken the approach of bringing the business community together,” blah blah blah.
We are not worthy, Bob. The Merchants of Burien, for which any number of people take credit, was not the first business organization in Burien, nor will Discover Burien be the last; but for now Debra and the rest of the group are doing a great job. I am an active member and have worked with Debra on many events. Unlike Mr. Pierce, who doesn't even own a business in Burien, I have a pretty good idea of what is being accomplished in our business community.
We are lucky to have a person with her talents and organizational skills. She has had a positive impact on the downtown core as well as the rest of Burien. She has conducted herself professionally and all the groups that are working under the umbrella of Discover Burien have benefited from her abilities.
I don’t know about Bob, but the Merchants of Burien folk even voted to become part of Discover Burien and have added their collective talents to a broader mix of business people determined to make a better Burien. Successfully, I might add.
In the end, Bob just can’t resist a little character assassination directed at Noel Gibb and a parting shot at former City Manager Gary Long. He seems to gloat in what he perceives as their downfall. Their just desserts. Things change Bob, get a life. I’m sure Noel and Gary have.
