Margaret's family and friends celebrate the life of this kind, spirit-filled, gracious woman. Born on December 17, 1911, Margaret lived all of her life in Seattle (Mt. Baker and Alki neighborhoods) - and Kirkland/Juanita - until her peaceful passing on February 6, 2006 at the age of 94. She felt blessed to live in such a beautiful area. An only child, Margaret graduated from Kirkland High in 1929 and attended the UW for one year. She was intelligent, loved to laugh, and had a dry sense of wit and humor. As a child she played the violin, and began her life-long adoration of animals, including cats Sam, Heidi, and "Sir Cedric." A neighbor describes Margaret as "a truly gracious lady," and indeed she was - soft-spoken, genteel, rarely wore "trousers," and loved to serve tea. Margaret and her dear husband, who preceded her in death by 15 years, were known and beloved by many for their generosity of spirit, willingness to do "anything for anyone," and lovely and clever craft projects that they created together and gave as gifts. In the late 1920's, Margaret met and began working for Olive Pratt Kellogg, ("Miss K") who operated a radiology lab in the Stimson Building, downtown Seattle. Miss K introduced Margaret to "Seattle Unity," where she took many classes and became a life-long member. Her faith guided her life and her outlook. While she will be dearly missed, Margaret's gracious spirit will always be with those she loved. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m., Seattle Unity Church, 200 8th North, Seattle, 98109.
