Our Highline community voted YES in 2002 to support schools by passing a Capital Facilities Improvement Bond. That bond completely replaced eight elementary schools (the last two to be completed by September 2007), renovated three schools to be interim schools, and is rebuilding Mt. Rainier High School.
All projects have been completed on time and within budget! The district did what they said they would. The district managed the bond and the matching funds money so well that an additional elementary school will be built. My children will attend the new Bow Lake Elementary that will open in September 2007.
Our community has an opportunity to support our schools on March 14 by voting YES to pass another Capital Facilities Improvement Bond. This bond will pay for the replacement of five elementary schools, provide security improvements and upgrade the phone systems at all schools, and provide for an emergency fund to replace roofs and manage urgent repairs.
Let's continue providing our community with schools that are safe learning environments. Vote YES for Highline Schools on March 14!
