Thu, 03/02/2006
A young girl visited several neighborhoods, going door-to-door selling
certificates for a benefit carwash. When the purchasers tried to redeem
the coupons, they were told that no carwash had been scheduled and that
several other people had been scammed in the same way. The salesperson was a white female, around 10 years of age, with brown wavy hair. She wore a
multicolored windbreaker.
A woman met a man at a local bar and invited him to her home for a few
minutes so that she could use the restroom. The next day, her credit card
company called regarding several charges. The woman suspects that the
visitor took the card while she was out of the room. Officers recognized
the man's name, as he had recently been involved in a violent offense with
police. He also has a criminal history including manslaughter,
second-degree assault, and firearms and drug violations.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of Harbor Avenue after scuba divers

present. The gun was retained for the evidence department.
Gunshots awoke several citizens just after midnight Sunday morning in a
Highland Park neighborhood. Someone had driven by a home where six
children were sleeping and fired at least nine shots toward the home and a
car parked in its driveway. Officers recovered 11 shell casings. Several
of the bullets pierced the home and were found inside interior walls. No
one in the home was hurt.

what looked like heroin.
A local woman was transported to Harborview after she repeatedly visited a
Junction-area fire station and exhibited odd and suicidal behavior. She
would leave and return every half hour, without telling the firefighters
her name or contact information. An officer sent to the scene recognized

needed a mental evaluation.
