In the long running TV show MASH, Corporal Klinger dressed like a woman hoping to get out of the Army by proving that he was loony.

Last week the King County Council and King County Executive Ron Simms placed lunacy into law by passing an ordinance that would allow a male teacher to show up and teach his third grade class in women's clothes. The ordinance also makes it illegal for the school to reprimand the teacher for doing so.

Sounds loony? That's not all. Imagine this, you own a company with an outside sales department and one of your male employees decides to show up to his sales calls in drag. If you take disciplinary action against him, imagine facing civil charges, fines and a hefty lawsuit.

Sounds loony? That's not all, last month our state Legislature and governor passed a HB2661 which legalizes the same lunacy for the entire state. This is nothing less than government supported lunacy being stuffed down the throats of its citizens.

You may ask: What can I do to stop this lunacy which has been placed into law? Abraham Lincoln said "To sit by in silence when one should protest makes cowards out of men." We need to quit sitting around and take a stand against the eccentricities and perversities of few being pushed on the innocent and impressionable.

First of all, stand up and voice your opposition. Second, sign the petition and vote for Referendum 65 which will help stop this lunacy dead in its tracks by letting the people of this state decide. Third; in November vote the lunatics who voted for these bills and ordinances out of office.

Just to let you know who our loony local politicians are; leading the charge, Rep. Joe McDermott (co-sponsor of the HB2661) Rep. Eileen Cody, Senator Erik Poulsen and King County Councilman Dow Constantine, all who represent us West Seattle folks.

There are many admirable qualities about the MASH generation. One of those qualities was that they knew that a man dressing up as a woman was crazy. Hopefully, our generation has not dismissed that quality.
