Selection day turned out to be a big day for Highline teams, as they were represented on the Seamount League King Division winter all-star teams.
The following is a listing of the Highline-area all-stars as voted on by the league's member coaches:
Boys basketball
King Division
Rick Comer of Renton was named as the Coach of the Year and the Most Valuable Player award went to Shawn Henderson of Renton.
Mount Rainier senior forward Mike Malone and Mount Rainier senior guard Mike Johnson were both among the six first team members.
Mount Rainier senior Justin Armstrong made the second team along with Kennedy sophomore Josh White. White just finished his sophomore season.
Among the honorable mention selection choices were Nathan Laupati of Evergreen, David Harshman of Tyee, Bobby Gentry of Kennedy, Alfie Miller of Mount Rainier, Chris Blais of Kennedy, Warrick Tulloss of Evergreen, Joe Mulvihill of Highline and Malcolm Love of Tyee.
Girls basketball
King Division
This year's Seamount League King Division choices were Keilah Fanene of Evergreen and C'Era WalkingChild of Kennedy, while the Coach of the Year was Jeff Stuart of Lindbergh.
Daidra Brown of Kennedy earned a spot on the first team as a freshman, while the entire second team consisted only of players from Mount Rainier, Evergreen and Kennedy.
Making the second squad from Evergreen were juniors Tierra Lanier and Morgan Reed and Kennedy selections junior Mikayla Harshman and sophomore Demetria Riggins.
Chosen from Mount Rainier were sophomore Sarah Martinez, senior Nikki Murray and senior Leka Kaufusi.
Nisqually League
Valencia Doty of Foster earned a first team berth for her efforts as a junior. The Most Valuable Player award went to Sarah Painter of Eatonville and the Coach of the Year is Davina Serdahl of Eatonville.
Seattle Christian landed the Sportsmanshp award.
Among the honorable mention picks were Sara Paponjak of Foster, Jasmine Horton of Foster, Lanaya Daniels of Foster, Tianna Homad of Seattle Christian, Noelle Simpson of Seattle Christian and Melissa Collier of Seattle Christian.
Gymnastics
Seamount League
Kim Katzenberger of Kennedy captured Coach of the Year honors selected by the member coaches.
Making the first team were Anissa Madrid of Kennedy, Holly Steinauer of Evergreen, Gwen Smithberg of Kennedy, Melissa Stuckey of Kennedy, Stephanie Chu of Mount Rainier, Kelly Johnson of Kennedy, Kelly Mason of Highline, Jennifer Hulings of Tyee, Amber Smith of Mount Rainier, Robin Senirajjangkul of Highline and Leslie Dansereau of Kennedy.
Included on the second team were Miki Shryock of Highline, Liz Nugent of Mount Rainier, Kristie Bowler of Tyee, Carissa Sawyer of Mount Rainier, Leslie Dansereau of Kennedy, Rebecca Baldwin of Mount Rainier, Melissa Garrison of Tyee, Emily Herr of Kennedy, Jennifer Hulings of Tyee and Kelly Mason of Highline.
