Recently completed designs for the Town Square public park will be on display at a community open house on Wednesday, May 31, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The latest information and designs for streets serving Town Square and for the new City Hall/King County Regional Library building also will be presented.
City Hall is located at 415 SW 150th St.
Town Square's one-acre park/open space near Southwest 152nd Street and Fourth Avenue Southwest will be its focal point and the community's main gathering place.
It will include water features, trees, and grassy areas where children can play or people can sit and enjoy music or another performance on the park's stage.
A wide promenade will encircle the park and connect it to cafes and other businesses that are planned for the perimeter of Town Square.
Festivals and other community events such as the Farmers Market and Concerts in the Park will be held in the Town Square park.
The park's latest design can be seen on the city's website: www.ci.burien.wa.us following the Town Square and Park/Open Space links.
Town Square developer Urban Partners will display recently completed designs of the residential and retail building planned for Parcel 1 of Town Square, where the former Gottschalks building now stands.
The seven-level structure will include 122 for-sale condominium units (flats, town homes and live/work lofts), 21,260 square feet of retail space and indoor parking for 209 vehicles.
Work on Town Square is expected to begin later this year with the demolition of the old Gottschalks store and the former Puget Sound Educational Service District building, now both empty.
City officials, architects and developer representatives will be at the Open House to present the information and answer questions from the public. Burien residents and people outside the community are welcome at the Open House. Refreshments will be provided.
Following the open house, the city will conduct its first "Community Conversation" at 7 p.m. on the potential annexation of North Highline.
