Highline well represented on all-star teams

This year's Seamount King Division spring all-star teams are stock full of Highline and Des Moines-area talent.
The following is a rundown of this year's selections as made by the member coaches:
Baseball
Ben Guidos of Highline grabbed the big prize in baseball this year, being honored as the Most Valuable Player for the division.
Dave Larson of Highline was named as the Coach of the Year along with Dave Johnson of Renton.
David Macey of Highline and Darryl Morrow of Mount Rainier also made the first team as pitchers, while Guidos was named as the first team first baseman and teammate Lucas Shaw as a catcher.
Chris Mahoney and Justin Thornton of Mount Rainier were named at second base and shortstop, respectively, while Spencer LeCompte of Tyee, David Wagner of Highline, Josh Wells of Evergreen and Kyle Baskett of Mount Rainier were among the five total outfielders selected.
Named to utility positions were Josh Tarbuck of Evergreen and Daniel Dutton of Highline. Tyler Thompson of Evergreen was named as the first team designated hitter.
The second team included Evergreen pitcher Ricky Willers, J.T. Wattenberg of Mount Rainier at pitcher, Garrett Cochran of Mount Rainier at first base, Mark Rossmeier of Tyee at second base, Jeff Neubauer of Tyee at shortstop, Zack Stockton of Evergreen at third base, Matt Rogers of Mount Rainier at third base, Adam Powers of Kennedy in the outfield, BrendanYoung of Highline in the outfield and Tyler Thompson of Mount Rainier at designated hitter.
Honorable mention picks include Mike Cross of Kennedy, Kevin Nicholas of Tyee, David Wagner of Highline, Walter Johnson of Evergreen, Josh Kutz of JFK, Mike McDermott of Mount Rainier, C.J. Klop of JFK, Andrew Powers of JFK, Jeremy Evens of Highline, Mitchell McElwane of Evergreen, Highline's Macey, Bobby Gentry of Kennedy, Brice Buell of JFK, Tyler Thompson of Mount Rainier, Danny Jones of JFK, Sean Narby of JFK, Cody Cox of Mount Rainier, Nick Grech of Tyee, Jesse Roe of JFK and David Bryant of Highline.
Fastpitch
Karli Merlich of Kennedy was named as the Most Valuable Player and as a first team pitcher, while the co-coaches of the year are Dino Josie of JFK and Donnie Moore of Tyee.
Marie Fay-Shaffer of Tyee is a first team catcher and teammate Sydnee Jacobson is a first team first baseman.
Nikki Murray of Mount Rainier was the first team shortstop and Shanna Shepard of Evergreen was the first team third baseman.
The outfielders included Kelsey Decker of Highline and Sadie Vanderwal of Kennedy.
Maniqua Sanchez of Tyee is the second team pitcher and JFK's Dew Spadoni the first team catcher. Shalice West of Evergreen is the second team shortstop, while Ashley Engel of JFK is the third baseman and Maggie Whaley of JFK is an outfielder along with Brandi Brown of Evergreen. Brittany Copenhaver of Mount Rainier is a utility player.
Honorable mention choices included Anna Herried of Highline, Kelly MacDonald of Mount Rainier, Kelly Parsons of Mount Rainier, Shelby Klein of Evergreen, Taylor Trautmann of JFK, Jenna Ladenberg of Tyee, Peggy Mathison of JFK, Sarah Martinez of Mount Rainier, Palatia Govanna of Highline, Kaeli Gouley of Mount Rainier and Miki Shryock of Highline.
Boys soccer
Ruben Orozco of Mount Rainier was named as the co-Most Valuable Player along with Robbie Gouk of Hazen, with co-Coach of the Year honors going to Jerry Capodanno of Mount Rainier and Leonardo Lanzola of Renton.
Jose Franco and Mahvan Sulaiman were first team choices from Evergreen, while the first teamers from Highline were Marshall Kosaka, Armin Okanovic, Evan Richter, Tor Richter and Kyle Roudebush. Making the first team from Kennedy were Jake Ambrozic, Chris Blais, Josh Burnside and Eli Gordley. Chosen from Mount Rainier were Spencer Mennella and Orozco.
Second team selections included Christian Garcia, Moises Rivera and Eugene Kim of Evergreen and Chris Dostert, Alex Schisel and Grady Wood of Highline. Tony Armitage, Travis Bull and Derek MacLean were all named from Kennedy along with Brad Bodle, Dalton Rockwell and Jarrett Thomas.
No honorable mention players were chosen.
Boys tennis
Included among the boys first team players for tennis were Bryan Thorp of Kennedy, Donnie Stallman of Highline and Thomas Vo of Evergreen. The honorable mention list included Fraser Chan of JFK, Kyle Odland of Highline, Trevor Thompson of Mount Rainier, Jason Lim of JFK, James Santos of Tyee, Kory Farrell of Tyee and Kay To of Evergreen.
Girls tennis
Among the first team girls tennis choices were Jane Connelly of Highline, Robin Senirajjangkul of Highline, Jennifer Cheadle of Highline and Tammy Do of Evergreen.
Making honorable mention were Keilah Fanene of Evergreen, Jenjira Vorasani of Mount Rainier, Molly Tran of Evergreen, Maddie Guidos of Highline and Katy Weythman of Mount Rainier.
