I have been a parent and member of the Pathfinder community for seven years. This program deserves a more thoughtful process for determining the future facility. The Community Advisory Committee did not give proper attention to whether Boren was a suitable solution for Pathfinder to relocate.
Previous recommendation to move the Pathfinder K-8 program to Cooper Elementary and High Point Elementary were satisfactory and acceptable - both buildings are large enough to allow our K-8 to be housed together and provide adequate space and facilities for other key components of our program. We would welcome the opportunity to re-open these posssibilities. The criteria for these schools has not changed and I would like to know why they are no longer options?
The Board is scheduled to approve the first ever District Policy on Alternative Education. Pathfinder is the only K-8 Alternative on the South end.
Why shouldn't we have a facility that will house our entire program appropriately?
How does this move demonstrate benefits to students and families?
When were we (the impacted community) engaged in finding a solution?
How does a building with no place for outdoor education improve the quality of our program?
