As a Boulevard Park resident and community activist, I am at a loss as to why Burien continues to try to find some reason to annex part of North Highline.
First of all, Seattle Mayor Nickels has made it clear that he is willing to annex the entire area. And all of the information Burien has distributed, focuses on the benefits to Burien, yet nothing is ever said about what Burien will do for us, in North Highline.
What for example, will Burien do for Boulevard Park? How will annexation to Burien improve the quality of our neighborhoods? How will it strengthen our business district? How will it protect our real estate values? How will it decrease crime in our area?
I just don't get why the Burien city staff continues to push this issue when it appears the voters in Burien don't want to annex any of North Highline. I am starting to believe that for Burien, annexation is not about North Highline residents anymore.
Please someone, explain to me how annexation of all or part of North Highline is good for Burien voters.
